"The Stump" is located along Spring Creek northeast of Gunnison, Colorado, and  I have traveled that lovely road many times.  The trunk of the tree lies on the bank of the creek, and as time has passed, the bark has washed away, leaving the beautiful stump.  A beaver dam holds the water in a pool in the particular area, almost the only area in Spring Creek with a still pool of water.  This lovely area in Spring Creek Canyon is a very favorite place to paint.
